Developer/Consultant
Assisted clients architect and implement vitualization in their environment to save money and improve service level agreements.
Worked with clients to solve their problems using Open Source software. This included gathering the requirements, finding, tweaking or writing an application, installing the application and training the customer on how to maintain the application.
Modified Open Source applications to meet the needs of the client. One project involved integrating xfig with satellite data and geographical coordinates.
Wrote numerous client/server applications in C in a Unix environment.
Worked on an Orange Book, SQL compliant RDBMS for the United States Air Force.
Ported software (proprietary and Open Source) between Unix flavors (Solaris to Linux, for example). Rewrote drawing engine for maps from Windows to Unix.
Operations
Responsible for Kerberos infrastructure in production environment that supported over 12,000 hosts and 3,000 users. Expanded the system from 3,000 hosts and 1,000 users over 3 years.
On call engineer responsible for quickly determining and resolving problems.
Built process for web presence at SallieMae. Implemented processes and procedures for developers, quality assurance engineers and system administrators to move the content between the different environments. Built a pre-production system that was used for final test and debugging of production problems. Implementedconfiguration management.
