A network means more pieces to manage --- not just literally but also in terms of 'trust relationships,' which are notoriously difficult to understand completely.
Outsourcing means a certain loss of control --- one that, for such a critical service as a firewall, I would personally not tolerate.
There's already a shortage of skilled firewall administrators, and this is nowhere more visible than at shops that manage firewalls as a value-added service for customers (ie Exodus).
Somewhat likely, in small ways. Unlikely in any substantial way.
