2009 I did a couple of FATTs and PDXs. It didn't snow at the final FATT this year. It snowed the next day. The car was buried in the snow until late in February of '10.

2008 I did a few FATTs and PDXs and 2 MARRS races. I did the first MARRS race with a freshly broken collarbone and changed the clutch in the rain at the second one. Towing home from the final FATT of the season I almost wrecked the truck, trailer and car in the snow on RT 340. You could say this season dampened my enthusiasm somewhat.

6/28/03 CarGuys at Summit Point. Drove my street car. No rain.

3/1-2/03 CarGuys at SP. More rain. Here's what it looked like:
Summit Point with snow

2/22/03 BSR Instructor Clinic. Drove my street car in a torrential downpour since the race car was still buried in the snow.

2002

12/25/02 Maint. and upgrades. New stock clutch, main seal and gearbox seals by Martins Auto Service, Gaithersburg, MD, 301-926-8977. Roll cage work and safety equipment by Piper Motorsports, Manassas, VA, 703-530-0353.

12/7-8/02 Audi Club at VIR. SNOWED OUT. Imagine that!

11/15-17/02 CarGuys at Summit Point. Rained all day Saturday and Sunday. Drove 10/10s for almost an hour in a downpour on Saturday. Car was totally evil on Sat. Changed rear tire pressure +2lbs over front and the car was much faster and easier to drive on Sunday.

11/2-3/02 NASA-VA at Summit Point.

Maint: 10/15/02 Alignment. Toe +1/16.

10/12-13/02 NASA-VA at VIR-North. Finally realized that the toe has been wrong since the rack was replaced back in June. It had way too much toe-in. Eye-balled the alignment and got it closer.

9/7-8/02 NASA-VA at Lowes Motor Speedway, Charlotte NC. What a hoot! The infield is way more interesting than I expected. It has a decreasing radius turn and an off-camber entry into a funky sweeper that leads onto the oval. The oval is way more fun than I woulda guessed. I was flat to the floor from the apex of the last infield turn until I shifted up to 5th at the exit of NASCAR T2, then flat out thru NASCAR T3 & T4 until the braking zone just before start-finish. Doing about 120 indicated from the entry of NASCAR T3 all the way into the braking zone.

8/20-21/02 Shelby Club at Watkins Glen.

Maint: 8/18/02, new rear subframe bushings, oil change, Hawk Blue pads in front, new brake fluid, removed soundproofing in trunk.

7/27-28/02 Car Guys on the Jefferson Circuit. This track is really hard on equipment. It took care of the full tread problems with the Toyos though.

7/22-23/02 BMW CCA NJ Chapter Instructor Training School at SP. Boy, are full tread Toyos squirrelly! Paul Moorcones at Radial Tire says they'll make me a better driver :)

Mods: 7/20/2002, new full tread Toyo RA1s

6/29-30/02 Instructor at NASA/BSR Hype-R-Fest on the Jefferson Circuit. Corded two front tires on Saturday. On Sunday I moved them to the back and practiced my mAd DrIfTing sKilLs Y0!

6/22-23/02 Instructor at NASA-VA June Jam HPDE

6/21/02 Instructor at FATT.

Mods: 6/20/2002, new steering rack and alignment, +1/8" toe.

5/3/02 Instructor at FATT.

4/19/02 Instructor at FATT. Rained a little.

4/15-16/02 Instructor for DC chapter of the Quattro club on VIR-north and full, Monday and Tuesday. The instructors were mostly the usual suspects from Tarheel, Tidewater and NCC chapters of the BMW CCA, so it was a lot of fun. Towed a students car home that had a blown motor.

4/13-14/02 Instructor for Tarheel Sports Car Club on VIR-South, Saturday and Sunday. Great folks. Hotter'n you know what. Had a big thrash Sunday at lunch replacing my rear pads which I had worn down to the backing plates. DOH!

Mods: 4/7/2002: new 4.10 40% LSD from Koala Motorsports.

3/1/2002 & 3/22/2002 Instructor at FATT. Had a blast! Cold as all get out though.

2/23-24/02 SpeedTrialUSA at VIR. Went well. Finally finding some speed around VIR. Had 4 good students, 3 in BMWs and 1 in a Merc. Got to drive all 3 generations of M3:
3 generations of M3
Guess which one I like best?

2/9/2002 BSR instructor clinic. It was a beautiful day for early February. We got a couple of hours of track time and had a blast beating up on the BSR cop cars. My car ran really well with the new injectors.

2001

12/8-9/2001 Instructor with Speedtrial at VIR. Last hurrah for the 2001 season.
VIR

11/3-4/2001 Rookie instructor with NASA-VA at Summit Point. Here is a pic of my car (5th one) on the grid with the Advanced students. I was taking my Novice A student out for a ride. The guy in the WS6 blocked me the whole session. He didn't seem to notice I was in his mirror from turn 1 all the way to turn 10 every lap. It's no wonder F-body drivers have a bad rep.

VIR with PCA, October 6, 7, and 8. South course Saturday and Sunday and the Full course on Monday.

NASA-VA instructor clinic at the Jefferson Circuit, Sept 22nd and 23rd. Good weather, good folks, good fun. No pictures of my own, but someone else took some pics which are here. Driving notes.

National Capital Chapter school at Summit Point, Sept. 15th and 16th. Driving notes.

Watkins Glen, August 21st and 22nd. All I can say is WHOOHOO! Driving notes.

NJ Chapter advanced driving days July 23 & 24. It was a blast. 5+ hours of track time a day, pass anywhere with a point-by. There was even an ex-DTM race car out on Tuesday. Gawd-awful fast. From the turn-in at 1 I'd glimpse it coming over the little hill on the straight. I'd put my arm out as soon as I tracked out of 1/2 because it already caught me. The only downside is that I need a new set of Kumhos :(

I bought a new truck. It's a 99 C2500 with a 454 and a 4.10 rear. It pulls real good :)

Rig

NASA-VA HPDE at Summit Point June 23rd and 24th. I kept the revs down and the car held together for two whole days, which was a very good thing because I had to drive it back and forth to the track. Yay!!!

I've did the first FATT (3/16/2001) and part of the NJ Chapter school at the Jefferson Circuit at Summit Point (4/21/2001). At that outing I had a little bad luck. My #1 intake rocker arm broke on Saturday, which kind of ruined the planned 3 day (Sat. thru Mon.) weekend. Things didn't improve any in May. I did part of a PCA school at VIR (5/19/2001) and broke the #3 intake rocker arm Saturday afternoon. I also blew up the transmission in my old truck and had to borrow a truck to tow the car home.

Rocker Rocker

The latest mods (4/14/2001) to the car are a set of brake cooling ducts from Bimmerworld
Brake ducts Brake hose

and a 4.10 limited slip diff with the M coupe finned cover
Diff Diff

The rest of the mods are here.

2000

I managed to get a fair amount of seat time in the 2000 season. I did the FATT in March and April, the Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington school at VIR in May and the National Capital Chapter of the BMW CCA school in June, a Car Guys school in July, another NCC school in August, FATT in September, the NCC school in October and FATT in November and December. Altogether it was 15 track days and about 1800 track miles.

1999

I started performance driving in 1999 with BMW CCA NCC Highway Safety School. I did several other BMW CCA and BSR schools that year. Here's the car I started out driving the track in:
