Martin" X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/54 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- New bind-chroot-8.1.2-9 RPMs revise yet again the jail and the default named.conf. Users of earlier releases of these packages are urged to update and to review the default sample named.conf and the file locations specified therein. All ndc commands now work smoothly and 'rpm --rebuild bind-chroot-8.1.2-9.src.rpm' succeeds on RH4.2 and RH5.1 systems. The jail is moved from /chroot/named to /home/named. Because the jail is moved when upgrading from earlier releases of this package one should do 'ndc stop' before installing the new base binary packages. I have put Source package: bind-chroot-8.1.2-9.src.rpm Packages built atop Red Hat 4.2: bind-chroot-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm bind-chroot-utils-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm bind-chroot-devel-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm Packages rebuilt atop Red Hat 5.1: bind-chroot-static-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm bind-chroot-utils-glibc-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm bind-chroot-devel-glibc-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm to from where they remain available. These RPMs are built from the May 11 bind-8.1.2 distribution. The base binary rpm installs named chrooted to /home/named as user named group named. The named daemon logs to syslog through a socket provided by holelogd and responds to signals from /usr/sbin/ndc which has been modified in accordance with the bind installation instructions. The installed default configuration implements a working nameserver. A prerequisite is to have a user "named" with a primary group "named". The "utils" and "devel" sub-packages are not influenced by the chroot. These packages conflict with corresponding earlier "bind" packages. bind-chroot-8.1.2-9.src.rpm was built on RH4.2 with libc-5.3.12-18.2. bind-chroot-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm was built on RH4.2 and carries a named dynamically linked with libc5 and static linked support binaries. bind-chroot-utils-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm was built on RH4.2 and requires libc5. bind-chroot-devel-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm was built on RH4.2 and has no dependencies. bind-chroot-static-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm was rebuilt on RH5.1, is all static linked and has no library dependencies. bind-chroot-utils-glibc-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm was rebuilt on RH5.1 and requires glibc (libc6). bind-chroot-devel-glibc-8.1.2-9.i386.rpm was built on RH5.1 and has no dependencies. These packages are signed with the same key as this mail message. The public key is available from the public servers and from finger://jam@gwyn.tux.org http://www.tux.org/~jam/jam-keys.html Thanks to Brian Candler for building and testing on RH5.1 and for invaluable help making these packages workable and portable. Thanks to Ray Curtis for quickly turning around several tests and experiments.
