Linux Benchmarking Project

Introduction

This is rev 0.3 of the LBP Repository Data Model. Updated August 31, 1998

This model is a logical/physical model to be used as a basis for developing the repository for the Linux Benchmarking Project.

It is oriented toward accepting benchmark results from a variety of standard benchmarks that can be run on the Linux Operating System, and providing real time queries with graphical output against the benchmark results posted by interested individuals and organisations.

This model is intended to further discussion about the form and content of the LBP Repository. It is not yet complete or physically correct in it's current form, and further development is required.

This has been simplified from rev 0.1, and common relationships collapsed into a single entity for SOFTWARE and CONTACT. It has been remodeled from rev 0.2 using the Metadatabase CASE TOOL freely available from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. This tool was used to generate a 3NF schema for the Repository.

This remodelling has brought to light the correctness of v0.2, and hidden the hardware complexity another level down.

Any comments and criticisms are welcome, as the implementation of a physical model using MySQL 3.21.33 is now underway.

Access will be made available to the data with HTTP.
