The Linux Benchmarking Project site was setup thanks to the Washington
Area Unix Users Group (WAUUG) and the efforts of a few volunteers:
- David C. Niemi: our own
benchmark guru, David is always on the lookout for new tests to add to
Unixbench, a suite of portable Unix benchmarks he maintains and develops.
- Samuel S. Chessman:
Sam is our SMP Linux kernel specialist. He is also responsible for the
Apache installation, PHP/FI, mySQL and the Linux Benchmarking Project Repository
design and implementation.
- Uwe F. Mayer: Uwe is our math
and statistics expert (he has a PhD in Mathematics and is an assistant
professor at Vanderbilt), so he makes sure nobody cheats about benchmarking
numbers. He is also the maintainer/developer of Nbench-byte, a modern CPU
benchmark suite.
- André D. Balsa:
when not eating a Camembert in the south of France, André telnets
to the WAUUG machine and uploads the latest version of these pages. He
also wrote the Linux Benchmarking HOWTO.
There are many ways to contribute to this site:
- Results: run your favorite benchmark and send us your results.
- Benchmarks: if you think you have written an interesting piece
of code that can be used as a Linux benchmark, we can include it for download
from the LBP site.
- Documentation: documentation on existing benchmarks and benchmarking
procedures is always welcome.
- Your opinion counts: if you just want to discuss an interesting
issue related to Linux benchmarking, subscribe to the mailing list or contact
any one of us.
You are invited to join the Linux Benchmarking Project team!
